Inhibition of P. berghei growth in mice infected with blood parasites that were then treated orally with atorvastatin, itraconazole, posaconazole or and chloroquine for three consecutive days in two independent experiments.

ND = not done.*Reduction of parasitemia at day five of the experiment in relation to untreated controls (n = 4 to 6 mice per group).**In the second experiment, posaconazole was diluted from a commercial oral suspension (Noxafil®).Only the chloroquine-treated mice survived to day 30 post-inoculation; all the other mice died, despite the suppression of parasitemia in relation to the control mice.
