We tested for changes in arthropod community composition associated with the desert shrub Larrea tridentata (creosotebush) before and after entering a full bloom (average 300 blooms). We found that L. tridentata supports arthopod abundance (excluding Melyridae beetles) and species richness relative to open areas, but both abundance and richness decreased as L. tridentata bloomed.
