# Processed Data and Code for Regional Aerosol Synchronization Study This dataset contains processed data and code supporting the study: "Regime-dependent expression of regional aerosol signals in urban PM10 and PM2.5 across arid northern China" ## DATA DESCRIPTION The repository includes: (1) **Daily PM10 and PM2.5 observations for 47 cities (2015–2025)** (2) **Monthly aggregated PM data after quality control** (3) **Leave-one-out regional signal estimates** (4) **City-level metrics including R² and ΔR²** (difference in regional control between PM10 and PM2.5) (5) **Regional PM–wind monthly data** for analysis of atmospheric ventilation regimes (6) **ERA5 meteorological data** extracted at city locations ## CODE Python scripts are provided to reproduce all figures and analyses presented in the manuscript. ### figure2_regional_synchronization.py Script for Figure 2: Regional synchronization of particulate pollution. ### figure3_differential_regional_control.py Script for Figure 3: Differential regional control of PM10 and PM2.5. ### figure4_drivers_deltaR2.py Script for Figure 4: Observed drivers of inter-city heterogeneity in ΔR². ### figure5_wind_regime_analysis.py Script for Figure 5: Wind-regime dependence of particulate pollution. ## DATA SOURCES - **Air quality data** were obtained from the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre (CNEMC).- **Meteorological data** were obtained from the ERA5 reanalysis dataset provided by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts via the Copernicus Climate Data Store. ### Shapefiles:The following shapefiles are included in this dataset for spatial analysis:- `prov.shp`: Provincial boundaries of China.- `china.shp`: Outer border of China. ## LICENSE Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)
