The Southern California Social Surveys continued the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area Surveys [LAMAS], conducted between 1970 and 1976. The 1991 SCSS focuses on how people feel about life and living in southern California. Topics include health status, dr. visits, health insurance, smoking, government spending on services to the elderly, birth control, discrimination, AIDS, neighborhood quality, gangs, immigrants, homeless, trust in government, confidence in police, abortion, political participation, political party ID, government spending, crime victimization,gun permits, death penalty, financial well-being, lottery, work history, workplace characteristics, travel time to work, use of day care, educational attainment, basic demographics. This study is provided 'as is' and questions may be directed to the Data Archive.
