Database of the flora of the mangrove-semi-deciduous forest ecotone in a coastal sector of Cienfuegos province, Cuba

Ecotones are transition zones between two adjacent plant formations, with diffuse boundaries whose functions include buffering boundary effects on ecosystems and allowing the flow of species and genes. Studying their floral composition provides insight into not only their richness but also into the natural and anthropogenic transformations that occur within them. The mangrove-semideciduous forest ecotone at Punta Iguana, located at the mouth of the Caunao River in Cienfuegos Bay, Cuba, hosts both endemic and threatened flora. But information on their distribution and conservation status is scarce. Therefore, this research aimed to assess the status of the flora present in this space.
