资源简介:
This data is supplement to the paper 'Arctic glacier snowline altitudes rise 150 meters over the last four decades' (Larocca et al., 2024). Satellite–based observations of the glacier snowline altitude, the location of the transition between snow cover and ice late in the summer, may be used to approximate the position of the equilibrium line altitude–a parameter important for mass balance assessment and for understanding the response of glaciers to climate change. This dataset contains snowline altitudes for a subset of 269 land–terminating glaciers above 60 °N latitude (n=3489). The positions of the snowlines were manually mapped in the latest available summer, clear–sky Landsat satellite image between 1984 and 2022. Mean snowline altitudes were extracted using the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM). Larocca, Laura J., et al.
