Map layer Areas for the protection of nature

Areas for the protection of nature shall be secured for the establishment of a national biotope network and shall be conserved, developed and, where possible, interconnected through special measures of nature conservation and landscape management; they may be used for uses which undermine these objectives only if the intended use cannot be achieved elsewhere, the importance of the areas permits this and the interference is limited to what is strictly necessary. If the use, endangerment or significant impairment of areas is unavoidable for the protection of nature, compensation and replacement must be provided by appropriate measures to the extent necessary (source: LEP NRW).
