Shotgun metagenomics of virion (0.22 micrometer filtrate) in Lake Biwa (2016-2017)

Shotgun metagenome sequencing was performed to reconstruct viral genomes in Lake Biwa, Japan. Water samples were collected from the epliminion (5 m) and hypolimnion (65 m) at a pelagic station of the lake. Virion was collected from 0.22 micrometre filtrate, concentrated by the FeCl sedimentation, purified by thr CsCl ultracentrifuge, and the DNA was extracted, fragmented, and sequenced by the Miseq platform (2 x 300 bp).
