In this study, SAS@PLGA-Csn-Pcn nanoparticles (NPs) were constructed by loading sulfasalazine (SAS) into the core of polylactic acid-glycolic acid copolymer (PLGA) using pectin and chitosan as protective shells. The formed NPs exhibited significant ph-dependent properties and were used to protect anti-inflammatory drugs in the upper GIT. Meanwhile, our PCDDSs exhibited specific colonic delivery properties triggered by pectinase secreted by gut microbiota, and the enzyme products exhibited significant prebiotic properties.
