This dataset comprises historical and projected climate variables, including precipitation, minimum temperature (Tmin), maximum temperature (Tmax), and reference evapotranspiration (ETo), developed to support climate change impact assessments, hydrological studies, and agro-climatological applications for Vellar river basin.
The historical climate data represent observed or reanalysis-based records for the baseline period (1951–2024), while the future climate projections are derived from Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) General Circulation Models (GCMs). Future projections are provided under multiple Shared Socioeconomic Pathway (SSP) scenarios (e.g., SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP5-8.5) .
Precipitation and temperature datasets were bias-corrected and downscaled to improve regional applicability. The reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was estimated using the Hargreaves–Samani method, employing temperature and other relevant climatic inputs. All variables are provided at a daily temporal scale, ensuring compatibility for integrated climate and impact analyses.
The dataset is organized into clearly structured folders separating historical and future periods, with each variable stored in standard formats (.XLSX). This dataset is particularly useful for water resource planning, drought and climate extreme analysis, crop water requirement estimation, and climate vulnerability assessments.
