Detection of hypervirulent, Ceftazidime/Avibactam resistant K. pneumoniae strains in a transplant and highly specialized center in Sicily

Hence, fourteen CZA resistant K. pneumoniae strains were collected from March 2021 to December 2022 at the Mediterranean Institute for transplants and highly specialized therapies (ISMETT) located in Palermo, Sicily. The resistance to CZA was extensively examined by analyzing genes encoding for beta-lactamases and porins, virulence factor plasmid-mediated, paying attention to discern between Cp-Kp and Hv-Kp phenotypes.
