资源简介:
The Tin Sheds Art Workshop archive contains items related to the history and development of the Tin Sheds Art Workshops. The Tin Sheds Art Workshop began in early 1969 as an independent art studio, a creative space for artistic experimentation and the development of studio based contemporary visual arts practice, to complement (or possibly counter) the theory-based visual arts teaching of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Sydney.  Initially set up in an "uninstitutionalised space" between the Wilkinson Building and the Wentworth Building (near City Road), the Tin Sheds developed independently, and became the working studios of practicing artists, students, activists and art collectives. The Tin Sheds Art Workshop programmes and studios were later integrated with the teaching programmes of the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Sydney. The Tin Sheds Art Workshop archive contains photographs, documents, video and audio tapes recording interviews with artists associated with the Tin Sheds; photographic slides, including landscape painter Lloyd Rees' (1895-1988) slide collection; and physical objects relating to the workshops themselves. For further information on the history of the Tin Sheds Art Workshops refer to Therese Kenyon's book Under a hot tin roof: art, passion and politics at the Tin Sheds art workshop (Sydney, 1995).
