Eudiplozoon nipponicum Genome sequencing and assembly

Monogenean parasites (Platyhelminthes, Neodermata) represent the most numerous group of mainly fish parasites at all. Despite their economic and ecologic importance, they are predominantly studied in terms of morphological, phylogenetic and population characteristics. Complex genome-wide analyses targeting the description of functionally important proteins and biochemical pathways are nearly neglected. In our study, we introduce the molecular characteristics of monogenean representative Eudiplozoon nipponicum, an obligate hematophagous parasitises from the gills of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) by reporting the draft of the core genome, with subsequent functional analysis of protein-coding genes.
