资源简介:
In this study, we aimed to understand how meroplanktonic larvae are distributed in the Fram Strait (Arctic Ocean) and what environmental factors drive their community composition. Meroplanktonic larvae of benthic invertebrates are key to the connectivity and persistence of seafloor populations. By studying the distribution and dispersal of larvae, we can better understand the impacts of climate change in a warming Arctic. In the summers of 2023 and 2024, we deployed plankton nets throughout the Fram Strait. Meroplanktonic larvae were sorted from plankton samples, quantified, and identified using integrative taxonomy. Oceanographic parameters were obtained through physical sampling and satellite data. Based on temperature and salinity measurements, we categorized samples as being collected in different water masses. Phytoplankton community composition was used to define four different communities, representing different bloom states. Sea ice cover was quanitifed from satellite imagery. These data allow for reveal how enviornmental factors influence community composition of meroplanktonic larvae in the high Arctic.
