Congruent temperature dependences of mutation rate and metabolic rate in Escherichia coli

we used a mutation accumulation approach combined with whole-genome sequencing to obtain a reliable and accurate estimate for the temperature dependence of mutation rate in an Escherichia coli strain. The three temperatures investigated here, 25, 28 and 37 °C, differed significantly from each other for bacterial growth rate.
