The main petition drink and catering businesses requested to the Spanish government during the coronavirus crisis in 2020 was the suspension of the self-employment tax. Almost 80 percent of restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs pointed at this as their main claim as well as the suspension of municipal taxes. More than half also claimed to have their venue leases suspended.
