THE IMPORTANCE OF PRACTICAL ASSIGNMENTS IN TEACHING INFORMATION SECURITY

The rapid development of information technologies and the increasing amount of digital data have significantly raised the importance of information security in modern society. Educational institutions play a key role in preparing specialists capable of protecting information systems from various threats. One of the most effective ways to develop students’ competencies in this field is the use of practical assignments during the teaching process. Practical tasks allow students not only to understand theoretical concepts but also to apply them in real or simulated environments. This article discusses the role and importance of practical assignments in teaching information security. The study highlights different types of practical tasks such as encryption exercises, system vulnerability analysis, and data protection simulations. The results show that practical learning improves students’ analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and professional competencies. Additionally, the article provides recommendations for integrating practical activities into the educational process to enhance the effectiveness of teaching information security.
