Development of a sustainable strategy for remediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated territories based on the waste exchange concept.

The project is based on the biotechnological potential of the Regional Specialized Collection of Alkanotrophic Microorganisms (acronim IEGM, www.iegmcol.ru) . The IEGM Collection focused on biotechnology relevant bacterial cultures, contains the most complete fund of non-pathogenic strains of actinobacteria of the genus Rhodococcus, whose representatives are active biodegraders of organic pollutants and producers of biosurfactants. The results of the project will ensure the implementation of sustainable strategic measures to reduce the level of complex pollution (petroleum hydrocarbons, heavy metal salts and pharmaceutical pollutants) of natural ecosystems based on the concept of waste exchange.
