[Purpose] To estimate the predation impact of an expanding mesocarnivore, the Egyptian mongoose (Herpestes ichneumon), on the populations of two declining prey species highly valued by hunters in southern Europe, the European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and the red-legged partridge (Alectoris rufa).
