Part of published Abstract: We studied the natural regeneration of a site in the restinga forest at Jacarepiá State Ecological Reserve, Saquarema/RJ, six years after deforestation by tractors in 1986. The herb strata, sampled by the point method, had 91 species and 40 families. The herb strata is in an initial stage of regeneration, as evidenced by the dominance of grasses such as Paspalum maritimum and Rhynchelytrum repens. 48% of the ground is covered by vegetation against 36% of detricts and 16% of bold área. Vines account for 41% of the species, followed by 23% of shrubs, 18% of herbs, 16% of trees and 2% of subshrubs. The height of most individuals ranged from 10 to 30 cm. Notes: (1) Now the area is recognized as part of the "Parque Estadual da Costa do Sol" (2) All taxa need a review according Flora e Funga do Brasil
