Characterization of the mycobiome of the seagrass, Zostera marina, across space and time

In terrestrial systems, fungi can effect plant fitness. However, not much is known about the interactions between fungi and marine plants. We used Illumina sequencing of the ITS region to survey the taxonomic diversity of fungi associated with the seagrass, Zostera marina, to begin to understand the role of fungi in the marine environment.
