Coronary Artery Involvement in Kawasaki Disease: A Comprehensive Case Report of a 7Year-Old Child with Persistent Coronary Aneurysms, Advanced Diagnostic Imaging, and LongTerm Management Strategies

Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute, self-limiting systemic vasculitis predominantly affecting young children, though it can present in older age groups with diagnostic challenges. Coronary artery aneurysms (CAA) are a severe complication, increasing the risk of long-term cardiovascular morbidity. We report a case of a 7-year-old male diagnosed with KD complicated by persistent CAA, detailing the clinical presentation, laboratory findings, advanced diagnostic imaging, therapeutic interventions, and follow-up. This case highlights the importance of early recognition, comprehensive imaging, and multidisciplinary management in atypical KD presentations to prevent adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Long-term follow-up strategies and the role of anticoagulation in managing CAA are also discussed.
