This dataset is sourced from the paper: Huang, M., Wang, Z.C., Pan, X.H., Gong, B.H., Tu, M.Z., & Liu, Z.F. (2022). Delimiting China's urban growth boundaries under localized shared socioeconomic pathways and various urban expansion modes. Earth's Future, 10, e2021EF002572. This dataset illustrates the urban built-up area expansion process and urban spatial growth boundaries (also referred to as urban expansion boundaries) of China from 2021 to 2100 under different socioeconomic scenarios and various urban expansion modes. The production workflow of this dataset mainly includes two parts: (1) Based on the localized shared socioeconomic pathways, the patch-based LUSD-urban model was used to simulate the urban expansion processes under 11 expansion modes; (2) Based on the maximum expansion extent, the dynamic urban expansion information was processed using spatial morphological methods, and the urban spatial growth boundaries for each provincial-level administrative region of China were delineated. The authors utilized this dataset to analyze the impacts of urban expansion processes on ecosystem services and urban shrinkage pressure under different scenarios and expansion modes, which can provide references for the rational delimitation of urban development boundaries.
