资源简介:
This collection comprises images from Historic Building Recording and Archaeological Monitoring and Recording at East Titchberry Granary, Hartland, Devon. Work was carried out by South West Archaeology Ltd. in October 2024. The three structures recorded include the granary, additional farm building and a linhay. The granary is Grade II Listed as an 18th century farm building, though it is of far more interest than the listing text would suggest. The earliest fabric is likely to date to the 17th century and it relates to an earlier courtyard complex that served the earlier hall. The farm building in its first form was created during the 18th century, with the loading door facing the farmhouse, and considering the historic orchards it was possibly an apple store or a shippon. The linhay is of good vernacular build and it is largely complete and of a specialised form that is seen in pre-1800 farm buildings, though it is not Listed. It too incorporates earlier fabric.
