Fusarium wilt (FW) is caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc). The substitution of the highly susceptible cultivar (Gros Michel) to Foc race 1 (R1) by the resistant cultivar (Cavendish), mitigated the devastation in banana production caused by Foc R1. Currently, Cavendish represents the source of 99% of banana exports. However, the new isolate of Foc TR4 is capable to invade and cause FW on a wide range of other banana varieties (including Cavendish). Foc TR4 was recently reported in Colombia and Peru. In this study, Foc TR4 isolates from La Guajira Department in Colombia were sequenced using Oxford nanopore technology. Nanopore reads of the Foc TR4 isolates were assembled de novo.
