Streptococcus agalactiae Genome sequencing

We performed whole genome sequencing (WGS) on nine clinical Streptococcus agalactiae isolates. The aim of this study was to investigate genomic factors associated with the hyper hemolytic activity of a pigmented group B streptococcus (GBS) isolate causing streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS) and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). To identify genetic variants associated with this phenotype, we did a comparative WGS analysis of six invasive and three non-invasive GBS isolates.
