Broward County Estuaries

This estuarine system of Broward County data includes all semi-enclosed, naturally existing coastal water bodies in which saltwater is naturally diluted by freshwater and which has an open connection with oceanic waters. The estuarine system is located east of the County’s seven (7) salinity control structures. The data was originally developed as a visual representation of manatee zones from EPGMD. The data has been enhanced with parcels deemed tidally connected, such as West Lake Park water as well as Pond Apple Slough, Secret Woods Nature Center and Hacienda Flores in order to depict a complete Broward County estuarine system.
