Perceptions and Challenges in Accessing Available Electronic Information Resources: Case Study of Postgraduate Students in Universities in Benue State, Nigeria.

This study investigated Perceptions and Challenges in Accessing Available Electronic Information Resources: A Case Study of Postgraduate Students in Universities in Benue State, Nigeria. The study adopted a survey research design. A questionnaire was used as the primary instrument for data collection, the population of 341 registered postgraduate’s library users and the sample size of 184 registered postgraduate students were used for the study. The data for the study were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Frequency counts, mean, and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions. Findings of the study revealed that electronic resources are available for use by postgraduate students in Universities in Benue State. The study also revealed that all the factors mentioned in the questionnaire hinder postgraduate students from accessing the available electronic information resources in universities in Benue State, such as lack of information retrieval skills, lack of awareness of e-resources, erratic power supply, limited number of computers, slow internet connectivity, Lack of training and orientation programs recorded a high response rate. The study recommended an increase in ICT facilities, the supply of standby generating plants, subscriptions to electronic databases, retraining of librarians to be ICT compliance, and the cooperation of ICT study skills at the postgraduate level in the study area to promote an increase in access to available electronic information resources: by Postgraduate Students in Universities in Benue State, Nigeria.. 《尼日利亚贝努埃州高校研究生获取可用电子信息资源的认知与挑战：以贝努埃州高校研究生为案例》 本研究旨在探讨尼日利亚贝努埃州高校研究生在获取可用电子信息资源过程中的认知与面临的挑战。本研究采用调查研究设计，以问卷作为数据收集的核心工具；研究总体为341名注册研究生图书馆用户，最终选取184名注册研究生作为研究样本。研究数据采用描述性统计与推断性统计方法开展分析，通过频数统计、均值及标准差解答研究问题。 研究结果显示，贝努埃州高校内存在可供研究生使用的电子资源。同时研究发现，问卷中提及的所有因素均会阻碍贝努埃州高校研究生获取可用电子信息资源，具体包括信息检索技能匮乏、电子资源认知不足、电力供应不稳定、计算机数量有限、互联网连接速度缓慢，其中"缺乏培训与定向辅导项目"这一因素的响应率较高。 本研究提出如下建议：增加信息与通信技术（ICT）设施配置、配备备用发电机组、采购电子数据库订阅服务、对图书馆员开展ICT合规培训，并在研究区域内的研究生阶段开设ICT学习技能课程，以提升尼日利亚贝努埃州高校研究生对可用电子信息资源的获取能力。 关键词：电子图书馆（Electronic Library）、信息资源（Information Resources）、学术馆员（Academic Librarian）、挑战（Challenges）、研究生（Postgraduate）、学术馆员（Academic Librarian）
