Microbiota on the surface of ETICS building facades

The study goal is the identification of bacterial and fungal communities present in different biocolonization stains covering the surface of External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) in external facades of residential buildings located in three different locations in Lisbon, Portugal, herein designated as site B, site M and site Z. Comprehensive knowledge of major microbial communities able to thrive on ETICS facades is relevant to define selective and sustainable maintenance strategies towards the improvement of the long-term durability of these cladding systems.
