Children and young people's experiences with conflicts, 2010

This study seeks to explore extent and character of violence against children and teenagers aged 0-16. The study focuses on violence in the home and other places, violence against the child and domestic violence witnessed by the child. The subject is being examined in three subprojects which focus on different aspects of violence against children: The first subproject examines the violence against children which have been registered and violence against the child''s parents where the partner/spouse has been registered as the perpetrator. Furthermore it is examines if there are any reports of child abuse or neglect. The second subproject examines the extent of violence against older children and teenagers through structured interviews with the children. They are asked about the violence which they are victims of - committed either by parents or other children - and domestic violence which they have witnessed. The third subproject examines the extent of the violence against the youngest children and the domestic violence witnessed by the young children. Qualitative interviews with various professionals e.g. nurses, doctors and kinder garden teachers were used to examine this subject.
