GovEduDomains: A Global Dataset of Active Government and Educational Domains

GovEduDomains is a global, research-oriented dataset of active governmentand educational domains, accompanied by a manually curated country-levelcatalog of government and education domain suffixes. The May 2026 snapshot contains 471,033 unique active domains spanning189 countries and regions. The underlying suffix catalog contains607 manually curated government and education suffixes for 193 countriesand regions.The dataset includes an active institutional domain list, a normalizedsuffix catalog, the original country-level suffix catalog. The domains were identified from longitudinalpassive DNS data and subsequently validated through DNS livenessmeasurements from geographically distributed vantage points.This record represents the fixed dataset snapshot associated with theaccompanying research manuscript. The corresponding GitHub repositorycontains documentation and information about future releases.
