Calldata byte-pricing as a disclosure channel: measurement data, queries and analysis code for thirty days (1–30 August 2026) of Ethereum mainnet

Companion archive for the manuscript "Priced by the byte, disclosed elsewhere: calldata cost as a disclosure channel in deployed Ethereum contracts". Since EIP-2028 a transaction payload is charged sixteen gas for a non-zero byte and four for a zero byte, so two values of one field differ in price by a multiple of twelve gas under standard pricing, and of thirty gas where the EIP-7623 calldata floor governs. The study asks what that dependence discloses to a consumer bounded by the transaction receipt, and whether it matters in deployed code. The archive holds the measurement in full: twelve CSV files that are the unmodified outputs of queries run against public Ethereum mainnet data over thirty days, from 1 to 30 August 2026; the consolidated metrics file that every number in the manuscript traces to, together with the single script that produces it and its thirty-four internal controls; and the three figure scripts, which rebuild the published figures and refuse to draw if an arithmetic control fails. The SQL is deposited for four of the twelve data files. For the other eight the query text was not retained. Versions 1.0 to 1.4 of the README said it was included for ten of the twelve: that statement was wrong by six, and version 1.5 names all eight. The outputs are here unmodified, and every parameter those queries take is recorded in the metrics file. The EIP-7623 floor is tested twice. Over the 923 strata that carry the claims, 27 of 621 924 transactions were governed by it, in two strata, neither of which reaches the claim. A second pass, new in version 1.5, covers all 30 638 retained strata with a sieve that is necessary and not sufficient and therefore yields an upper bound: it excludes the floor outright on 29 949 of them, and at most 221 of the 12 159 primary positions, 1.82 %, lie in a stratum it does not exclude. None of the eight positions that pass the second ratchet is among them. Its three queries are public and citable: dune.com/queries/8842501, dune.com/queries/8842512 and dune.com/queries/8842278. The archive also includes the supplementary material of the article, in source and in PDF, and one query that was deliberately NOT run: a protocol for testing whether certain recipients are delegated under EIP-7702. It is deposited so that a reader can run it. No output of it exists. A provenance appendix records, for every verbatim quotation in the manuscript, by which route the string was obtained and whether it was checked character by character against its source. MANIFEST.tsv lists every file with its size and SHA-256; verify_manifest.py recomputes them, and generer_manifeste.py rebuilds the manifest and exits non-zero if it diverges. Paths resolve relative to the scripts, so the package runs wherever it is unpacked, with no network access. No value reported in the manuscript is simulated. No key, credential or access token is included. The manuscript itself is not part of this archive.
