RSG: Overview map of near-surface raw materials in Rhineland-Palatinate

WMS service LGB: Rhineland-Palatinate is rich in mineral resources, the use of which goes back well into historical times. A large number of mining sites of ores and coals prove that the Celts and Romans already appreciated this wealth. Today, the distribution areas of near-surface mineral resources shown in the map are the primary target of mining activity. In European comparison, the high-quality clays of the Westerwald and the various volcanic rocks of the Eifel are of outstanding importance for the predominantly medium-sized industry. The overview map is based on the forecast raw material map of FALKE & NEGENDANK (Universities of Mainz and Trier) as well as extensive own investigations.
