A FUNCTIONAL-PRAGMATIC AND LINGUOCULTURAL ANALYSIS OF DIPLOMATIC TERMINOLOGY IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK

Diplomatic terminology represents a specialized lexical system shaped by institutional norms, historical development, and intercultural interaction. This article provides a detailed comparative analysis of diplomatic terms in English and Uzbek from functional-pragmatic and linguocultural perspectives. The study examines how diplomatic vocabulary operates within discourse as a strategic tool for expressing political intentions, managing international relations, and maintaining communicative balance. Emphasis is placed on semantic flexibility, pragmatic functions, and cultural influences that determine the usage of diplomatic terms. The research reveals that while English diplomatic terminology demonstrates a high degree of standardization and global uniformity, Uzbek diplomatic vocabulary reflects both international conventions and national communicative traditions. The findings highlight that diplomatic terms in both languages are not static lexical units but dynamic elements of discourse shaped by context, power relations, and cultural norms. The article contributes to comparative linguistics, diplomatic discourse analysis, and terminology studies.
