资源简介:
Background: The Reducing Ethical and Social Prejudicial Effects of COVID-19 Testing in Underserved Populations (RESPECT-UP) study aimed to understand the social, ethical, and behavioral factors surrounding COVID-19 testing in vulnerable urban and rural African American communities in Alabama. The study also aimed to develop, in the form of toolkits, multilevel strategies to reduce COVID-19 disparities, which included inequities in testing, while considering vaccine availability. Materials/Methods: This community-engaged study recruited participants and conducted surveys, focus groups, and interviews with community stakeholders. Using an explanatory sequential mixed methods design, the study analyzed quantitative and qualitative data. In addition, the study developed tailored toolkits for healthcare providers, public health agencies, social service organizations, media, churches, educational institutions, and the general public. Outcome/Impact: This study combined quantitative and qualitative data to assess social, ethical, and behavioral determinants of COVID-19 testing in African American communities. In addition, the study developed and disseminated toolkits to the community, and evaluated implementation outcomes to inform future efforts to other populations.
