The de novo genome contigs submitted here was extracted from a Megavirus-like (as determined by Kraken metagenomics) Nucleo Cytoplasmic Large DNA Virus (NCLDV) isolated from Powai Lake in Mumbai, India. The isolate is an amoeba-infecting lytic virus of particle size of about 400 nm. This is the first NCLDV isolated and reported from India and provides an opportunity to study its evolutionary phylogeography with other reported NCLDVs.
