Implementation of type 2 diabetes prevention in women with a history of gestational diabetes: A focus on equity

Type 2 diabetes is rising globally, and low-income groups are the hardest hit in wealthier countries. Women who have had gestational diabetes have a higher chance of getting type 2 diabetes later, but current prevention efforts often overlook cultural and local needs. There is little research from poorer countries, and in places like Victoria, Australia, women from South and Central Asia or rural areas face challenges staying in these programs. A one-size-fits-all approach does not work and may deepen the diabetes gap. To truly prevent diabetes, we need programs that are fair, and suited to different cultures and communities.
