Seven fuzzless, one lintless (A2_106) and one normal fiber (BM13H) G. arboreum accessions were used in this study (Table 1 and Table S1). The characteristics of BM13H has been previously described (Miyazaki et al., 2012). The eight fiber mutant accessions were introduced from the Crop Germplasm Research of the United States Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service (USDA-ARS) located in College Station, Texas, USA. All eight fiber mutant accessions were crossed with BM13H to establish F2 segregating populations for genetic analysis (Table 1). Plants were grown in glasshouses at about 28 ± 2 °C with natural lighting in Canberra, Australia.
