Most of the research inbacteriophages has been conducted on virulent phages because they usually kill the target-host they infect. However temperate phages, the ones able to establish a transient dormant association of their genome with bacteria that reside in, could render bacteria resistant to secondary infections by other phages also guaranteeing survival of the resident phage. Here, using classical genetics and a novel technology to analyze RNA, we describe the temporal transcription of Fc02 prophage induction.
