Serial section series of a non symbiotic Bathymodiolus azoricus plantigrade. The mussel was sampled at the Bubbylon hydrothermal vent (37.801 N; -31.537 E) at 1002 m water depth in 2010. The mussel was fixed with 2.5% glutaraldehyde stored in Trumps solution. Sections (1.5 µm section thickness) were stained with toluidine blue.
