Data for A new genus of subterranean spiders (Araneae: Linyphiidae: Erigoninae) from the eastern United States.

A new genus, Cornicudiabola Milne gen. nov. (Araneae, Linyphiidae: Erigoninae), supported with phylogenomic analyses using ultraconserved elements, is erected to hold three species, one of which was described from a female in 1886 as Erigone infernalis Keyserling and again from a female in 1898 as E. albescens Banks. Herein we re-describe the female, describe the male, and designate E. albescens as a junior synonym of E. infernalis syn. nov., and transfer this species to the new genus as Cornicudiabola infernalis Keyserling comb. nov. The other two species are new to science: C. draneyi Milne sp. nov. and C. hardeni Milne sp. nov. All three species are from caves, shallow subterranean habitats, and/or deep decaying leaf litter in the eastern United States. Many of the specimens within this genus were collected from deep soils using subterranean pitfall traps (pipe traps), a lesser-known collection technique, especially outside of Europe.
