Biochar influence on manure carbon residence time in soil

This work is about aging of swine and dairy manure with biochar produced from different biomass sources. The biochar was added at various rates to the manure and the mixtures were individually aged under laboratory condition for one month. These aged manure, and manure-biochar mix considered as treatments for data collection of manure C stability upon application to soil. Data from this research can be utilized to calculate the manure C residence time in soil matrix in presence of BC and recalcitrant C accumulation. The data also provide insights on the treatment impact on utilization of soil C by microbial community and production of microbial biomass.
