Replication Code for: “The risks cannot be compensated”: The willingness to donate DNA for science and its relationship with economic preferences

The code in this replication package constructs the analysis files and replicates the study results by sourcing deidentified micro-data from two established household-panel datasets distributed for secondary research use: (1) the LISS panel (Scherpenzeel & Das 2010), and (2) the SOEP panel (Richter & Schupp 2015, DIW Berlin 2021), which can be accessed (free of charge) after signing a Data Use Agreement (DUA) with the respective **Data Owner**: [Centerdata (LISS)](https://www.centerdata.nl/liss-panel) and [DIW Berlin (SOEP)](https://www.diw.de/en/diw_01.c.872607.en/edition/soep-is_2021___data_1998-2021.html).

The code uses a combination of bash, R, and Stata. Packages, version numbers, and citations are reported below. The study can be replicated by running two master scripts. The master scripts run a series of subscripts in chronological order to prepare the analysis files and generate the results data shown in the 1 figure(s) and 4 table(s) of the article. The replicator should expect the code to run for less than 15 minutes on a decent workstation. **Because neither Data Owner supports programmatic access (API), once the replicator has signed the DUA and been given access to the data, the replicator must manually download a set of .zip files, see section **"List of required data files and their documentation"**, to a local directory per the below instructions.**
