Expenditure distribution of defense-related contracts in Japan FY 2021, by type

In the fiscal year 2021, the share of expenses on defense-related military equipment production contracts that were negotiated contracts commissioned by the government of Japan amounted to 61 percent. This was the most common type of contract, followed by negotiated contracts.
