Necrotrophic plant pathogens such as Sclerotinia sclerotiorum often employ complex arsenal of pathogenicity factors including enzymes, toxins, metabolites, transporters, effectors to damage their host plants. However, it becomes crucial to study the differences in the pathogenicity factors of isolates having varying levels of aggressiveness through transcriptome analysis. Such studies will shed lights on the key difference in the pathogen virulence profiles and can lead to better understanding of key pathogenicity determinants of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum.
