Connections and Causal Loop Diagram Data: Housing Policy Instruments and Social Cohesion in Aotearoa New Zealand

This dataset contains the coding outputs and causal loop diagram (CLD) backbone from the PhD literature review “Social Cohesion and Housing Policy Instruments: A Complex Systems Perspective”. It includes a list of constructs, coded connections, and feedback loops derived from a systematic and thematic review of interdisciplinary scholarship on housing policy instruments and social cohesion in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Excel file is structured into tabs that record the coding process and serve as a data backbone for CLD modelling in Kumu. It enables transparency and reproducibility of the analytic process by making visible how constructs, relationships, and loops were synthesised from the literature. This version incorporates: 28 constructs, reflecting material conditions (e.g., affordability, tenure, housing insecurity) and relational dimensions (e.g., belonging, trust, equity). 115 connections, mapping causal relationships identified across the literature. 60+ feedback loops, both reinforcing and balancing, showing how housing policy instruments interact with processes of fragmentation and cohesion. The file is a working model. Future iterations may evolve as new research, stakeholder insights, and empirical testing are integrated.
