Approximate extent of the reindeer herding area in Sweden Inspire

The data set ‘Cleaning area’ shows the approximate distribution of reindeer husbandry in Sweden and is the Sami Parliament’s way of providing a conceptual picture of where reindeer husbandry rights are currently exercised and can be considered to exist on the basis of, among other things, ancient traditions. For some areas, there is disagreement over the extent of reindeer herding rights. To support the documentation, the National Border Commission's investigation (SOU2006:14) has been used. It intended to provide guidance on where reindeer herding rights may exist to a greater or lesser extent. The compilation of the knowledge base made by the Inquiry is extensive and can be used to give indications about reindeer herding rights, although the Inquiry's conclusions and positions can be questioned.
