Grain number per panicle (GNP) is a major determinant of grain yield in cereals. However, the mechanisms that regulate GNP remain unclear. To address this issue, we isolated a series of sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] multiseeded (msd) mutants that can double GNP by increasing panicle size and altering floral development so that all spikelets are fertile and set grain.
穗粒数(GNP)是谷物产量的重要决定因素。然而,调控穗粒数的机制尚不明确。为解决此问题,我们分离出一系列高粱(Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench)多粒种子(msd)突变体,这些突变体通过增加穗长和改变花发育,使得所有颖果均具育性并形成籽粒,从而将穗粒数翻倍。
