Traditionally, it is difficult to identify some non-obvious targets to engineer the Streptomyces hygroscopicus var. ascomyceticus for ascomycin titer improvement. In this project, we developed a novel approach based on transcriptomics analysis to enable rational identification of non-obvious targets, so as to engineer the strain to attain a higher yield.
