We examined the transcriptional response of the centric diatom Thalassiosira rotula to phosphate stress using RNA-seq (Illumina) analysis. Two genetically different strains of T. rotula were selected to evaluate the possibility of intraspecific variability in response to phosphate limitation. Whole transcriptome profiles were generated for cells cultivated in nutrient replete and phosphate-stressed cultures.
